Chapter 104 - Takeru

PRESENT

Shiki Takeru was walking towards the usual café he always go for some light snack during late night.When he entered the café,the first person he saw was the red haired girl whom he really knows,more than anything.

Caroline : I know I can find you here.

Shiki : Good evening Caroline (smiles)

Caroline : I believe this belongs to you.

Caroline handed a blue velvet pouch  to Shiki and none of them move.

Shiki : When did you found out?

Caroline :Last night. I  was aware that you like this color so much.I didn’t know it took me this whole years to get the facts right.

Shiki : (laughing)May I join you?

Caroline : Dozo.

Shiki  : I apologize if any of those things I did that day,years back has made you uneasy or anything--

Caroline : Stop talking.(rising her hand)

Shiki : ….

Caroline : Were you the one offered me the white handkerchief during Josephine’s funeral?

Shiki : ….i thought you wouldn’t ask.But yes.It was me.

Caroline : Why did you do all these things.

Shiki :…

Caroline : I doubt there are no reasons for all these miracles.

Shiki : Let me tell you one thing Caroline Jean-Marie. “On n'aime que ce qu'on ne possède pas tout entier.” [We love only what we do not wholly possess.]

Caroline : (shocked)

Shiki :I hope this clears your mind Jean-Marie.

Shiki slowly stood up and bowed a little before leaving the café.

Caroline was left speechless at the table and she realized the blue pouch is still there on the table.

Caroline : …..

Caroline didn’t know what to do that time.She didn’t even know what kind of feeling is she feeling that time.She didn’t even know what to feel at all.She knew something is wrong with her heart but then none make sense at all that time.

Mika : Why are you looking at me?

Shinn : (smiles)

Mika : You know are you are that creepy when you do that?

Shinn : Its just that I cant think of anything else.

Mika : What?

Shinn : Are you a witch or something Mika?

Mika : A..A what? A witch? (annoyed)

Shinn : You could have bewitched me that I cant stop looking at you at all.

Mika : If you are trying to make me fall for you again,trust me.Its not working anymore (laughing)

Shinn : Do you remember the time when I first met you?

Mika : The time when you punched the wall behind me just to scare me off?

Shinn : (laughing)Yes,yes that time.

Mika : Of course I remember Shinn.That is the time I can actually imagine my career has come to an end with black holes surrounding me.thinking that I am gonna work with a brat like you.

Shinn : But you were actually smitten by me ddint you?

Mika : (staring at Shinn)

Shinn : Wait,I got it wrongly.

Mika : ??

Shinn : I was the one smittened by you.

Mika : (sigh)

Shinn : (smiles)

Mika : If any other woman fall for you,I’ll make sure you I’ll kill you first,then the girls.

Shinn : What am I ever gonna do with you (llaughing)

ODERA’S HOUSE

Haruna : This way …and then done!

Minami : Caroline!Wrong turn,wrong turn!

Mika : What are you three doing…

Minami : Knitting!

Haruna : Oka-san is teaching us how to knit baby hats!

Caroline : AHHHHH why does mine looks like some alien head hats? (annoyed)

Mika seat beside Minami on the couch and examine whatever them both are doing.

Mika : Why would you need to knit a baby hat?

Minami : Somebody didn’t get the news yet…

Mika : What news?

Caroline : We are gonna be aunties!

Mika : ……(speechless)

Minami : (nodding)

Mika : who got pregnant….

Haruna  : Oh my god,it’s Meisa!Who else? It cant be or your or Caroline (annoyed)

Mika : Meisa is pregnant?

Haruna : (nodding)

Mika : (shocked)

Minami : She called us just now,she is still in Greece and she said she had been missing us so probably gonna head here first when they come back later.

Mika : That’s fast…

Haruna : Well at least you didn’t want what Caroline wants.

Mika : What?

Haruna : She actually expects us to like date for a few minutes,get married after an hours,conceived child right after and deliver the next day.

Caroline : Oh come on,I was just --

Mika : Are you crazy.

Minami : Alright,alright! Seems like we already have two of you engaged.I wonder when will your time comes…

All of them were looking at Caroline but then she was not aware at all.Instead,she kept on knitting but then when she finally realize none of them were talking,she lifted her head up.

Caroline : What?

Minami : When are you gonna get a future husband?

Caroline: I don’t like this topic Minami-san…

Minami : You are 27 years old.When do you want to think about this seriously?

Mika : (looking at Caroline)

Caroline : The only thing I like is eating…

Haruna : *smacks Caroline’s head.

Minami :But but,wouldn’t it be nice for you three to get married anytime soon…

Caroline stood up and showed the knitted hat to Minami.

Caroline : Thereyou go!

Mika : Is that a baby cap…or

Caroline : (annoyed) It’s a baby cap Mika.It is.

Haruna :I don’t think it is called a a baby hat or a baby cat..more like …

Suddenly the bell rang and all four of them turned  to the windows.

Minami :And that will be?

Haruna : I’ll check .

Haruna placed her knitting materials on the table and ran to door to have a peek.

Haruna : (shocked)

Minami : Who is it Haruna?

Haruna turned to Caroline and and gestured her to come to her.

Caroline : me? What?

Caroline quickly put her baby cap on the table and went to Haruna.

Haruna : (pointing outside)

Caroline : Why--

Haruna : Recognize him?(grins)

Caroline : Oh damn.

Haruna :I knew there is something fishy about you both.But referring back to the story about you and him.It make sense though (rolling her eyes)

Caroline : The story is like from years back Haruna.Years back.

Mika : But what happened last night shows nothing changed right? (tapping on Caroline’s shoulder)

Haruna : (nodding)

Mika : (sigh)

Caroline :Whats with that sigh?

Mika : You are becoming more like me,Caroline.

Caroline : What?

Mika : Ego.

Caroline : (annoyed) No Im not Mika.Im not at all.

Minami : Are you girls gonna let him stand outside longer? (smiles)
