Chapter 109 - Lost

FEW DAYS LATER

The big white hall was brightly lit with soft white and orange light.The big diamond chandelier in the middle was the perfect touch to give a majestic feeling to the hall.Everyone is getting ready for the solemnization of the bride and the groom of the day. All the staffs are still moving here and there to give their very last touch for the special day.

Rion : *talking on the phone . What do you mean you lost your earings!?Kanon don’t be silly.Have you checked under the table the bed the toilet the balcony the door the tv the everything!?

The lady with her dark brown with a streak of red highlight hair whom is pinned into a braided bun was walking back and forth while talking on the phone. Kanon told Rion that she cant find the pair of earings Rion bought for her to wear on her wedding day.

Kanon : I cant find it! Did you put it together with the dress or-

Rion : I’ll come to you!Wait there!

                        

Before Kanon could say anything,Rion already hung up and already on her way to the 4^th floor.Rion booked a fewsuites at the hotel where the reception is gonna be held so that everyone can stay there and help with the preparations for Kanon’s special day.After all,it is the first ever marriage in the family

SUITE 008

Kanon was arranging the white veil on her head when Rion barged in.

Rion : Kanon!?

Kanon : Im inside my room!

Rion : Did you check the boxes?

Kanon : Celine checked for me just now.But she cant find it.She’s searching at the other room.

Rion : Celine!!

Celine : Im in the other room!!!!! *shouting from the room opposite Kanon’s room.

Rion eyed the room for a while and spot a paper bag under the coffee table.

Rion : Found it! Told you that you are uselss without me (laughing)

Kanon : (sigh)

Rion walked slowly towards the coffee table and bend to reach for the medium sized paper bag.She then quickly took a peek inside and smiled at Kanon.

Rion : It’s inside.Come let me help you put it on.

Kanon was sitting on the edge of the bed and Rion took a seat beside her.

Rion : You look….nervous.

Kanon : I am getting married today Rion.Do you expect me to be all jumpy and what else?

Rion : Just saying (laughing)

Rion carefully put on both earings for Kanon and she lean backward to take a look at Kanon.

Rion : Lovely!

Kanon stood up and went to the mirror on her dressing table.She took a deep breath and stare at her self in the mirror. She was dressed in a long lace sleeved wedding dress with little flowery embroidery at the bottom.It was simple but exactly how she wanted it to be.Simple and lovely as it is.After all,it was designed by the most important person in her life

Rion : Takeru really did a great job on your dress.Not to mention that I really love the lace sleeves. It really look good on you (nodding)

Kanon : I need oxygen…(cupping her cheeks)

Rion : Kanon…

Kanon : I am getting married.I was so excited last night but suddenly it hits me this morning when I woke up.

Rion : Listen here. You are getting married to a guy whom we both known for so long. 10 years is not a short period of time.The reason you are in this dress is because he has given the oath to take care of you when he proposed to you that day. You are here because it is written in both of your fate. Don’t worry.today is your one and only special day. Chin up and look ahead. Happiness awaits you Kanon. (smiling)

Kanon let out a sigh and smiled at Rion.

Kanon :I can always count on you when it comes to words.And situations like this (laughing)

Rion gave Kanon a warm long hug and told her everything is gonna be okay.

Rion : Trust me Kanon. You’ll rock the aisle .

Kanon : (laughing)

Suddenly there was a knock on the ajar door.

Celine : Are we good to go?

Rion : Miss Kanon is good to roll baby.Come lets call all your flower girls!

Celine : I’ll call them!

Celine is Kanon’s closest friend since they went to the same school and university. Celine is petite girl with a boy-cut blonder hair with dark brown streak. It pretty much gives her a look of strong willed woman but feminine in a way.

While on the other side of the town….

Caroline was looking at the paper Eiji gave her last week and looked up at the big white signboard hung at the shop infront of her.

Caroline : I think I got the address right…but why it is closed?It;s just 7 !

Caroline dressed in a simple leather pants and a cream glittered top looked around to see if there is anyone around she can ask.She removed her red velvety jacket and hung it on her sling bag.

Caroline : Crap,what do I do now?! Wait…

Caroline searched the shop and saw the contact numbers on the see through glass.She quickly took out her phone and began dialing.

Suddenly there was somebody from the next shop greeted her

[Conversation are in French]

LADY : Are you searching for Mister Shiki?

Caroline : (shocked) Oh my god I am so sorry. Yes yes.Is he around?

LADY : His shop is closed for the week.  His assistant said Shiki is getting married. Come again next week okay young lady (smiling)

The lady went back into hre shop leaving Caroline alone again.

Caroline : (speechless)

Caroline cant digest  all the words that the lady said to her yet.not just yet. She was spacing out and then she quickly ran into the lady’s shop.

Caroline : Miss! Do you happen to know where is the venue of the wedding?

HALL

Takeru was looking at himself in the mirror.He adjusted his tie again and again to make sure he look okay during the ceremony.He cant look messy today he thought.He had enough messiness all these days thinking about his work and his life.And about Caroline.

Takeru : It’s time to finally let everything go I guess.

Rion : Its your fault.Not mine.Get your senses and lets go.It’s time damn it.Stop spacing out.

Takeru : (laughing) Alright alright.How’s my tie?

Rion : You adjusted it more than 20 times.It’s already perfect Takeru (annoyed)

Takeru: Shall we?

Caroline stared at the big light brown hotel and despite her heart racing nonstop after receiving the news about Shiki getting married.And she actually took about 3  hours to get herself here. She cant taker her eyes off the beautiful building infront of her. The sky is is dark enough since it was already around 9 d and the lights surrounding the building infront of her enhances the the beauty of the structure.

Caroline : Now why did I leave Paris at the first place-- wait oh my god I should be thinking about Shiki not this damn it!

Caroline arranged her jacket and she was about to take her step,she saw a pair of of well dressed couple walking down the main stairs. They were dressed formally and Caroline didn’t even think twice about asking them.

Caroline : Excuse me miss. Were you from the wedding held here?

Lady : yes yes.We were the last one to leave the hotel.The ceremony was done about half an hour ago my dear.Were you supposed to attend it too?

Man : Shiki has gone back to the suite I suppose but don’t worry.I can call--

Caroline : No.

Lady : Im sorry?

Carolne : No no,its okay.I got the wrong hotel.Its okay Miss,Sir.So sorry to disturb. I’ll take my leave now.

Caroline’s expression changed instantly that the couple didn’t fail to sense it.She lost her will at once when she heard the lady said the wedding ceremony was done.It’s not like she lost the chance to attend,she has lost Shiki she thought.

Caroline pulled up the zipper of her jacket and walked away.She didn’t know where to go.But one thing she is sure is she must not let Shiki knows she came to his wedding.

The lady and her husband looked at each other and said nothing.

Caroline walked quite a distance and without knowing she arrived at the park near the Eiffel tower.She realized it because it was bright enough that the moon light need to do nothing to light up the city of Paris. Caroline stared at the tower and without realizing her tears were rolling on her cheeks.She was crying,for the first time after 20 years. She didn’t realize she was crying until she had difficulty breathing and she quickly searched for a handkerchief in her bag. She cant even seem to search her bag for the handkerchief because her whole body was shaking and her hands wont just obey her commands.

Caroline : I cant do this…

Caroline took a seat near the fountain and tried to calm herself. She wiped her tears using her palms and she was torn between trying to stay strong or to surrender to her feelings. Broken feelings.

Caroline sat there alone,not doing anything at all but stare at the water fountains. The park were brightly lighted with the lights from the Eiffel tower.The dim light along the pathway was enough just to let the people see the way out from the park.The night was beautiful and the weather was really windy.But,not to Caroline.

Caroline : That’s it Caroline.You lost the only guy you love in a blink.I lost you,Takeru.I lost you.
