Chapter 36 - RINA

SHINKANSEN STATION,KYOTO

Mika was looking for Hayashi and when she turn to her right, she saw Hayashi waving at her.

Hayashi Akemi is Mika’s lawyer.Originally the their family’s lawyer.Akizuki Eiji and Akizuki Mayuki’s personal lawyer.She was one who took care of the will and make sure that everything that Mika needs are settled.Akemi has been helping Mika to find her sister because since she is lawyer with 25 years of experience,Mika believes Akemi would not disappoint her,at all.

Mika :Hayashi-san!

Hayashi : Mika-san!*waving

Hayashi walked towards Mika and gave her a hug.

Hayashi : How are you Mika-san?

Mika : I am fine,for now I guess.Thank you so much for coming here,all the way from Tokyo Hayashi-san.I am so so touched.

Hayashi : Anything for Mayuki’s lovely daughter Mika-san.Lets sit somehere?(smiles)

Mika and Hayashi found a café and asked for a very disclosed seat and the waiter asked if they want a private room.

Hayashi : A private room?You have it?

Waiter :Yes,we do have it (smiles)

Mika : Alright then

The waiter showed them the room and Hayashi quickly ordered two green tea for them.It does not matter about what to drink she thought,all that matters is the box and the file infront of her

Mika :You found my sister?(worried)

Hayashi : Mika,Yes I found her.And before I tell you this.I am sorry and I feel really guilty to tell you this.And I hope you will be fine.

Mika :Its okay.tell me.(anxious)

Hayashi : I found her yes.I did.And I found the place where she was buried too.

........

Mika’s heart almost stopped when Hayashi said that.She just stared at Hayashi without saying anything.

Mika :Rina…is..dead?

Hayashi : I am so sorry Mika.(sigh)

Mika : for some reason,I have prepared myself for this.I can..it’s fine.

Hayashi : Here.

Hayashi handed a a black leather file and a medium sized leather box.

Hayashi : this is what I got from the cemetery.The lady who works there told me that Rina’s foster family left it there.And she said,it was requested by Rina,herself.And the file is from Rina’s foster family. The foster mother said everything that Rina keeps is in this file and this box.I didn’t opened them .It is all yours.

Mika : (speechless)

Hayashi: I shall leave everything to you now Mika-san.Everything you need is in the file.I wish I can stay her longer but I have train to catch

Mika : It’s okay,it’s okay Hayashi-san.You have helped me all these time..

Hayashi stood and went to Mika.

Hayashi : I know you are strong to open this box and the file Mika.I know you can get through this.Just like when you get through when you were small.

Mika : (sigh) Thank you Hayashi-san.

Hayashi gave Mika a very long hug before leaving the room and paid for the drinks she ordered for Mika.

Mika sat there alone,in the room,looking at the box and the file infront of her.She took her phone and  decided to turned it off.

Mika : Alright,you can do this Mika.You can.

Mika started with the files.It has Rina’s birth certificate,death certificate,her  bills,her medical reports,her education certificates and Mika went through one by one.

Mika : “Leader of the Art Club”. Your dream came true Rina.You always said that you wanted to jon the art club when you grow up.(smiles)

After going through all the papers and documents in the file,Mika moved on to the box.Mika took a deep breath before  lifiting the lif of the box.She then saw a journal,in Rina’s favourite color,pastel blue.

Mika : even your journal is in blue(smiles)

Mika slowly flipped the first page and suddenly a photo slipped through the pages and landed on Mika’s lap.Mika took the photo and she was surprised to see a very old photo of their family. There is her father,her mother and two of them in the middle in that small photo.Mika stared at the photo for a while before putting them on the table.

She flipped through the pages,reading all Rina’s journal that she wrote and it was all about what she did everyday. Mika smiled and laughed while reading the journal and stopped when Rina mentioned about her first day of work.

Mika : (reading the journal entry )

“I cant wait to show up at the palace!I really love the shows and  I never imagine working there as the personal assistant to one of the actors!I am actually screaming as I write this!I guess this one is gonna short entry because I am sleepy and I have to catch the first train tomorrow morning.I can be late on my first day of work!Good night!”

Mika :Personal assistant?Wait what..

Mika flipped through the pages as fast as she could,reading the journal Rina wrote as fast as she can and tried to get a grip on the journal,to clear all the uneasiness clouding her mind that moment and her heart almost skipped a beat when she read a line.

Mika : Kabuki palace,Kazuki palace,what is this..?

Mika then stopped reading when she saw the name she is really familiar.

Mika : Mizuhara Shinn?(shocked)

Mika refused to continue reading the journal ,she closed the journal and put the them on the table.She tried to breath properly as she tries to match everything that she read and she still refuse to believe the journal.She quickly check the box and suddenly her eyes caught a piece of photo popping out from the journal she read just now.

Mika stared at the journal for a while before  slowly opening the journal again and flipped to the page of the photo and when she found them,she knew everything is clear now.Mika took the photo and look at it closely.It was a photo of a lady with long brunette hair and she is really sure that girl is Rina and beside her the guy she could never expect at all.It is a photo of Rina and Shinn.Mika flipped the next page and saw more photos of them and her eyes caught a caption written in red.

Mika : “ Love is when you love with no reason at all”

Above the caption is a photo of Rina and Shinn hugging side by side under a sakura tree .It is a very warm photo ,she thought. Mika slowly flipped through the next remaining pages and when she reached the last page,she saw folder paper and with her name written on.

Mika : “Mika”?.

Mika put the journal on the table and unfold the paper.

Mika : 

“ Hello Mika!I hope this letter reach you but hey,if you are reading this,of course it has reached you! How are you Mika?! What date is today now?How is the weather today?If this is the hanami session,don’t forget to take a lot of pcitures okay! I would love to see them,maybe? I am writing this on my bed in this white room.this room is white and cold and I wish I could paint the wall with some cherry blossoms.I guess the doctors here does not know how to cheers their patients!(mad).

                The wires connected to my body is making me very very hard to write and I hate it.(sigh). I miss you so much Mika.I wish we could go for hanami like we used to do when were small,when father and mother were still alive.How I miss them so much. I guess you miss them too right? Wait,of course you misses them too!Silly me.Remember when I told you that I wish to fall in love when I grow up? And how you would oppose and remind me that I can only love you and only you? I guess God are answering your prayers Mika.And I know I am not gonna make it though.Anyway, I met a very wonderful guy. Better than the prince charming from our childhood story books! I can promise you that.His name is Mizuhara Shinn. And a matter of fact,I was working for him at the Kabuki Palace!.Wait,I am sure you would not know what is that,or maybe you do now? I never thought that love would find its way to me Mika.And I really hope when you are reading this,you can feel what I feel now(even I am connected to this machine that keeps bleeping)

                Shinn is a very nice guy and I don’t know that if I will ever deserve him to be by myside.Suddenly I remember the time when we re in the kindergarten! When that guy,I cant remember his name likes you but then I stole him from you?And you were so mad that you sent me warning letters?(laughing) I still remember the oath we made that day!Do you remember that oath? We must not love or like the same guy after this. We were so little back then!I cant forget the oath we made,not even until today.I told Shinn about that oath he laughed at me!How could he!(angry)

                But don’t worry Mika-chan. I am pretty sure my luck within my numbered days are all used up after meeting Shinn. I swear I have never met someone like him. And trust me,you would like him too if you ever meet him! Do you remember when father always buy flowers for our mother everytime she is mad?Shinn bought me flowers too.And he knew the flower I love without even asking!

                I have to stop writing now.By the way,I really miss you Mika.Im sorry I didn’t get to meet you for the last time.Maybe you can visit me later on? I told Shinn about you and guess what I told him? I told him,after I die,I am not surprised if you fall for my sister if you ever get the chance to meet her.I actually forced him to find you and maybe fall in love with you.I hope he thinks Im joking but I do hope you guys will meet one day!Or you guys have met?(wink wink)

Alright alright,I am tired.I have to get some sleep.and Im scared that Shinn would suddenly appear and sees this letter!Alright Mika!remember that I will always love you forever and after. And don’t forget to let it go and let it loose and love yourself more!Hugs and kisses from your sick annoying sister,Rina.

P/s- I hope this paper does not smell of medicine!And one more thing,I am really thankful I got to meet you the last time!If you can remember!>.<

Mika was already tearing up when she fold the letter and put it back in the box.She couldn’t bring herself to check the rest of the box.Her head were spinning and all she can think of is to run away.Run far far away from everyone.And she knew where to go.Home.

SUITE

Mika checked if Shinn has returned and she quickly packed her things before Shinn returns.After packing and stuffing the file and the box in her traveling bag.She left the key on the table and left.Mika quickly got into the taxi she called earlier and headed to the Shinkansen Station.

Mika : I couldn’t believe this.I knew there were something .I knew it.I knew it.

After a while....

Shinn opened the door and he was surprised that the room is very quite.He then searched the room and panicked when he cant find Mika.He then check the bed room and saw the wardrobe door wide opened.And it was empty.No clothes,no bag and there is nothing left in the room.Shinn reached for his phone and called Mika.

Mika was walking  in the station when Shinn called.Mika hesitated at first but then she tapped on the green button

Shinn : Mika,where are you?

Mika : …

Shinn  : Mika,tell me where are you ?

Mika : You knew about this all along didn't  you?

Shinn was schocked when Mika asked him that.He knew that moment,that very moment he as to be really honest to Mika because Mika obviously found out about her sister Rina.Her sister and the personal assistant from 2 years ago and also his deceased girlfriend.He knew he would have to be honest with her that time,and denying is not even an option that time

Shinn : Mika,listen to me--

Mika No you listen to me. I knew I shouldn’t believe you at firs,t I knew it.I knew it was all a lie.And why must you -

Shinn : Mika ,stay where you are and tell me where are you

Mika :Why didn’t you tell me Shinn?

Shinn : (speechless)

Mika : Tongue tied?

Shinn : Mika,tell me where are you.

Mika : Why didn’t you tell me?

Shinn : (sigh) I don’t want to lose you that is why.

Mike stopped walking and stood in the middle of the crowd at the Shinkansen station

Mika : You know what sucks about falling got a guy you’re not right for? You fall anyway because you think he might be different.And guess what,you just lost me.And don’t find me

Mika ended the call and turned off her phone.

Shinn : Mika?Mika?(sigh)

Hiiro : (leaning at the door frame) I warned you she will find out about this.I had a bad feeling when I first saw her that day

Shinn : (sigh)

Hiiro :What are you going to do now Shinn?

Shinn : Go after her of course.

Hiiro : Alright,lets then.Pack your stuff Shinn.
